Marrying my husband Ron was the best decision I ever made. Along with having him in my life, I also gained some wonderful in-laws and have enjoyed some interesting experiences along the way. The men in his family are hunters from deep in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. My brother-in-law was a former military sniper and now puts away enough deer meat to feed his family of 5 for the entire year. Lately the locals have been attempting to hunt coyote to reduce the killing of livestock. I had never been along for a hunt and out of curiosity I asked to tag along. My father-in-law taught me all about the various whistles used to mimic the sound of an injured animal to attract the coyotes. He also had a stuffed animal rabbit which vibrated around and put on quite the show. While we waited, I hid in the bushes in a borrowed camouflauge coat behind my sniper brother-in-law, for safety reasons of course! We did not see a coyote (secretly I was happy about this!) nor any other living creature that day high up in the mountain, but I truely enjoyed documenting the experience!
