What is the typical cost of a portrait session?
Portrait sessions start at $350 for New River Valley locations and they typically last for 1 hour. For other locations, a minimal travel fee will be applied and I do love visiting new locations! All sessions include a data dvd with edited high-resolution images, custom dvd cover, and a proofing site. Custom albums and print options are available as well. What kind of portraits do you photograph?
Engagement, Newborn, Baby, Children, Family, Maternity, Senior, Couples, Pet, Bridal, Boudoir, Trash the Dress, you name it!
What is your style?
I consider myself a documentary photographer capturing the expressions and personalities of those in front of the camera. This is a time for you to have fun, not to pose stiffly for an hour! For kids, it’s a time for them to play and explore and this is how the great expressions are captured.
What location should we choose?
I like to choose a location that is significant to you or your family. We will talk before the session so I can get an idea of your personality, interests, hobbies, etc., to determine the best spot. For newborns, the home makes for the best spot using the nursery and other personal elements around your house.
What do I wear and can we change outfits?
For engagement sessions, I recommend getting dressed up for a night out on the town. Fun, colorful dresses for the bride-to-be and something complimentary for the groom-to-be. Feel free to change midway through the session to a more casual look if you would like to mix it up. For seniors, 2-3 outfits will give some great variety. For families and children, go casual and comfortable. For newborns and babies, anything cute and adorable!
Do I have the rights to use my photos?
Yes, you are free to prints images as you wish and make copies of your data dvd. They are yours, have fun with them!
When can I expect my data dvd after the session?
Expect your data dvd within 1-2 weeks after your session. Before your dvd is mailed, you will be sent links to a blog story, proofing site, and previews on my photography facebook page.
How does the proofing site work?
The proofing site is an online album of your final images. This is just another way to view your images and to pass them on to family and friends. Prints can also be ordered directly from this site.
What equipment do you use?
My primary camera is a Canon 5D Mark II. I also bring along a Canon 5D as a backup. Other equipment includes 580 EX II flashes, a variety of Canon lenses, and various accessories.
How do I go about selecting photos for my album?
If you have selected a custom album in your package, I will send along instructions for how to go about choosing images along with your data dvd. The instructions will include the number of photos to select and your preferences for the cover such as photo and materials.
